artist Bob Ricketts is well aware all classic electronic music used the roland tr-808 extensively, so he took a couple of seminal tracks and transformed their 808-programmed drum patterns into posters!
WOW! this vid is simply astonishing. the guy basically turns a VA - in this case a korg ms-2000 - into a drum machine with a sequencer and is still able to play notes over it. so with good programming you can effectively get 4 parts (kick, snare, hat, bass) out of a synth that has 2 parts! really masterful.
ok. the tenori-on was waaay crazy back when it came around. but this??? yamaha definitely upped the ante in the craziness department with this outing.
